Shuttle Passing (Basic)
Team Drills
Passing
Warm-up
A simple drill that teaches the basics of passing and catching.

Drill Setup
- Split players into two lines facing each other, about 10-15 yards apart.
- Each line should have a few balls nearby.
- This drill can be ran in several groups simultaneously.
Drill Execution
- The first Player in the line starts the drill by stepping forward and passing the ball to the first Player in the opposite line.
- After making the pass, the Player will follow their pass and join the opposite line.
- The Player receiving the ball will then pass to the new first Player in the opposite line, follow their pass, and join the rear of the opposite line.
- The drill runs continously in this pattern.
Coaching Points
- Crisp Passes: Focus on throwing accurate, catchable passes.
- Constant Movement: Players should be in constant motion, following their passes to keep the drill flowing.
- Communication: Encourage players to call for the ball and communicate with their partners.
Variations
- Increase Distance: Spread the lines further apart to work on longer passes.
- Ground Balls: Roll the ball on the ground instead of passing through the air.
- Off Hand: Require players to use their non-dominant hand for passing and catching.
- Second Man: See the drill page for Shuttle Passing (Second Man).
